Prof. Toshio Fukuda is a world-renowned pioneer in robotics, mechatronics, micro/nano robotics, and intelligent systems. As the 2020 IEEE President and an IEEE Life Fellow, he has made landmark contributions to intelligent robotic systems, bio-robotics, micro/nano manipulation, mechatronics, and human-centered automation, while providing influential leadership across the global engineering and robotics communities.

Biography

Prof. Toshio Fukuda received his B.E. from Waseda University and his M.S. and Doctor of Science degrees from the University of Tokyo. His distinguished academic career has centered on intelligent robotic systems, micro/nano robotics, bio-robotic systems, mechatronics, and diagnosis and recovery technologies for complex systems. He has served in major international leadership roles, including President of IEEE, President of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, Founding President of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council, and Co-founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics. His work has had broad influence across robotics, automation, biomedical engineering, and computational intelligence.
